JoAnn EdwardsIAOHRA Welcomes JoAnn Edwards, the new Director of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission and looks forward to her active participation in our dedicated community of civil and human rights professionals.

Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission Chairman Gerry Robinson today announced that JoAnn Edwards, of Lebanon, has been appointed as the agency’s new executive director.

“JoAnn has the precise combination of skills, experience and passionate commitment to equal opportunity we need to take our agency into a new era,” Robinson said. “She brings a proven track record for cost-saving innovation, strategic business planning and excellent labor relations.” Edwards most recently served as corporate vice president for human resources at NHS Human Services, a Philadelphia-based national organization providing specialized services for older citizens, people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, people with mental health issues, and those in the juvenile justice and foster care systems.

She has more than 25 years of experience as a human resources executive in the non-profit sector and has been recognized for her leadership on the state and national levels.

Edwards holds a master’s degree in human resources and industrial relations from St. Francis University in Loretto, Cambria County, and a bachelor’s degree from Penn State University.

Edwards succeeds Homer C. Floyd, who retired in January after 41 years as the commission’s executive director.

The commission’s monthly public meeting will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 25, in their offices at 301 Chestnut St., Suite 300, in Harrisburg. The public is invited to attend and meet new agency leadership.
