"Promoting Civil and Human Rights Around The World"

2006 IAOHRA AWARD WINNERS

The IAOHRA Presidents Award is presented to individuals who have provided outstanding support or work on behalf of the Association during the most recent year.  This award is made at the discretion of the President of IAOHRA.

ARTHUR L. GREEN CIVIL AND HUMAN RIGHTS AWARD

Presented to Michael Cash, Executive Director, Fairfax County Human Rights Commission for his long advocacy of Civil Rights and Racial Justice.

INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

For continuing commitment to equal opportunity and civil rights demonstrated through their efforts to create and implement high calibre programs for civil rights enforcement professionals and their communities presented to:
:

--Stella Adams, North Carolina Fair Housing Center Outstanding leadership in the area of anti-predatory Lending activity and Education.

--Wade Henderson, Leadership Conference on Civil Rights leadership and advocacy on behalf of Civil Rights on the National level as an advocate with the United States Congress and the Executive Branch of Government.

INTERNATIONAL AWARD

Presented to an individual or an organization for outstanding work in civil and human rights internationally was presented to:

Vlahok & Paris Hovnanian -  For their work in fighting genocide around the world and particularly in their native homeland, Armenia.

WILLIAM HALE BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY AWARD

William Hale Business and Industry Award presented to:

Boeing corporation - For outstanding and long term support of the
programs and activities of the International Association of Official
Human Rights Agencies.

 

Member of the Month

Michael Thomas Cash is currently the Executive Director of the Fairfax County, Virginia, Human Rights Commission.  He has served in the human rights field for more than 28 years in both Fairfax County, VA and Durham, NC.  Previous to that service he served as a United Methodist Minister in the North Carolina Conference for nine years.  He is a past president of the Virginia Association for Human Rights.  Click here for complete Bio
