The North Carolina Fair House Center Recovers $70,000 For Complainant In Reasonable Accommodation Case Analysis (June 22, 2007)   
   
I am proud to report that the case reported in this article was a case filed by the NC Fair Housing Center. The Complainant recovered $70,000.  This was the last case resolved by the Center before we closed our Doors.  Until the end we were involved in cases that set precedent and clarified Fair Housing Issues.  We are continuing our work through consulting with Legal Services groups, FHAP and FHIP agencies and other groups interested in pursuing fair housing and equal opportunity for all persons.

IAOHRA Sends Letter to EEOC to discuss April 6 meeting to discuss and vote on FEPA Funding Plan for FY 2007. (June 4, 2007)

In an April 5th letter to EEOC, IAOHRA expresses it's opposition to the EEOC proposal to reduce state and local funding by $2.5 million dollars for FY 2007.(June 4, 2007)

Fair Housing Training for Commissioners 
There will be Training for Human Rights Commissioners and Hearing Officers on Fair Housing Law at the John Marshall Law School, Thursday, April 19 and Friday April 20 2007. This training is limited to 40 individuals. It is designed to focus on basic fair housing issues that may confront state and local human rights commissioners and hearing officers. The Columbus Community Relations Commission is supporting The Raleigh North Carolina MLK Committee who has sponsored a bus trip to Cincinnati, Atlanta, Georgia; Selma, Tuskegee, Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama; and to Memphis, Tennessee to retrace the steps of Dr. King and other civil rights heroes.
