- General DiscussionsSince 1949, the International Association of Official Human Rights Agencies (IAOHRA) has been a vigorous defender of human and civil rights. We are the most enduring network of U.S. governmental human and civil rights, and human relations agencies at the local, state, national and international levels. IAOHRA is headquartered in Washington, D.C. and is charged with addressing policies and practices of unlawful discrimination against individuals or groups because of any arbitrary differences. IAOHRA is a non-profit and non-partisan organization uniquely positioned to provide support, training, and advocacy for our member agencies that serve 250 million people in the U.S. IAOHRA provides member agencies with educational opportunities to assistance in the elimination of unlawful discrimination in employment, housing, education and public accommodations, public services and commercial transactions, including banking and lending practices, and other human rights and civil rights issues. IAOHRA member agencies have jurisdictional authority to address and eliminate discrimination and prejudice through education and the enforcement of antidiscrimination laws.
